Unfinished Song (Book 1): Initiate by Tara Maya

Dindi can’t do anything right, maybe because she spends more
time dancing with pixies than doing her chores. Her clan hopes to marry her off
and settle her down, but she dreams of becoming a Tavaedi, one of the powerful
warrior-dancers whose secret magics are revealed only to those who pass a
mysterious Test during the Initiation ceremony. The problem? No-one in Dindi’s
clan has ever passed the Test. Her grandmother died trying. But Dindi has a

Kavio is the most powerful warrior-dancer in Faearth, but
when he is exiled from the tribehold for a crime he didn’t commit, he decides
to shed his old life. If roving cannibals and hexers don’t kill him first, this
is his chance to escape the shadow of his father’s wars and his mother’s curse.
But when he rescues a young Initiate girl, he finds himself drawn into as
deadly a plot as any he left behind. He must decide whether to walk away or
fight for her… assuming she would even accept the help of an exile.

Blue-skinned rusalki grappled Dindi under the churning
surface of the river. She could feel their claws dig into her arms. Their
riverweed-like hair entangled her legs when she tried to kick back to the
surface. She only managed to gulp a few breaths of air before they pulled her
under again.

She hadn’t appreciated how fast and deep the river was. On
her second gasp for air, she saw that the current was already dragging her out
of sight of the screaming girls on the bank. A whirlpool of froth and fae
roiled between two large rocks in the middle of the river. The rusalka and her
sisters tugged Dindi toward it. Other water fae joined the rusalki. Long
snouted pookas, turtle-like kappas and hairy-armed gwyllions all swam around
her, leading her to the whirlpool, where even more fae swirled in the

“Join our circle, Dindi!” the fae voices gurgled
under the water. “Dance with us forever!”

“No!” She kicked and swam and stole another gasp
for air before they snagged her again. There were so many of them now, all
pulling her down, all singing to the tune of the rushing river. She tried to
shout, “Dispel!” but swallowed water instead. Her head hit a rock,
disorienting her. She sank, this time sure she wouldn’t be coming up again.

“Dispel!” It was a man’s voice.

Strong arms encircled her and lifted her until her arms and
head broke the surface. Her rescuer swam with her toward the shore. He
overpowered the current, he shrugged aside the hands of the water faeries
stroking his hair and arms. When he reached the shallows, he scooped Dindi into
his arms and carried her the rest of the way to the grassy bank. He set her
down gently.

She coughed out some water while he supported her back.

“Better?” he asked.

She nodded. He was young–only a few years older than she.
The aura of confidence and competence he radiated made him seem older. Without
knowing quite why, she was certain he was a Tavaedi.

“Good.” He had a gorgeous smile. A wisp of his
dark bangs dangled over one eye. He brushed his dripping hair back over his

Dindi’s hand touched skin–he was not wearing any shirt.
Both of them were sopping wet. On him, that meant trickles of water coursed
over a bedrock of muscle. As for her, the thin white wrap clung transparently
to her body like a wet leaf. She blushed.

“It might have been easier to swim if you had let go of
that,” he teased. He touched her hand, which was closed around something.
“What were you holding onto so tightly that it mattered more than

Book 3 has a title, and I’ve picked out the cover art!

Quick short update here. Been hard at work the past few days on book 3 of The Skyy Huntington Series. I’ve finally come up with an official title! Book 3 will be called The Pursuit. I’ve also decided on the photo I’ll use for the cover, and I can’t wait to see how it all turns out. Thank you to everyone who voted on the poll for who they wanted to see on the cover of the third book. I went with the most votes, and you’re going to see Skyy and Aiden (finally!) in a steamy pose gracing the cover!

Stay tuned for the back cover blurb and more info. I’m having a blast writing this book, it’s so fun now that Skyy has a lot more flexibility with what she can do!

Back to work on book 3! Updates!

The past few months have been hectic around here! We had a lot of company in and out of town as well as something popping up just about every day it seemed! I am finally, officially back to work on book 3 in The Skyy Huntington Series. I made significant progress today on the book, and finally got to write the chapter that I have been most excited to flesh out. I am so thrilled at how it turned out, and can’t wait for you guys to give me your thoughts. We have another villain in this installment, and it has been an absolute blast to write the character out.

I’m still on schedule to have the book out by the end of the year. I’ll have an exact release date before too long, as well as that back cover blurb I mentioned before. I have also been browsing for that perfect cover shot to hand over to my cover artist so she can work her magic. This book has been so much fun to write, and it’s not even finished yet! I am also still slowly working on another manuscript for a fantasy novel, but I don’t think I’ll reach my goal of having both books done before the end of the year.

Stay tuned, I’ll have more information for you guys soon, I promise! You can follow me here on my blog, as well as Twitter and Facebook. I am also on Goodreads, please feel free to friend me on any of these outlets. and if you liked my series don’t be shy to give me a great review!

Dream cast for movie: who would you like to see?

I was answering questions for an author interview tonight, and one of them was: Who would you like to see cast in a live action movie based on your book? Which got me thinking! I have always pictured Aiden as either Liam McIntyre from Spartacus (on the left) or Aiden Turner (on the right) from All my Children. Lord knows Mr. McIntyre looks amazing without a shirt on!

I’ve never pictured Skyy as anyone in Hollywood, and with her having auburn colored hair, getting someone with the right coloring to pull it off could be hard. Isla Fisher has the PERFECT hair. She’d need blue contacts though 😉

I could see Gwyneth Paltrow as Fiona maybe…she is a bit too tall but everything else fits how I envision her.

When I wrote Lucius I kind of loosely based him (visually) off of Gary Oldman in Bram Stokers Dracula. The sexy human version, not the creepy old man version. You know…the buff muscular body, and the long brown hair? Though that movie is from 1992 and Oldman isn’t looking quite as buff these days…so no idea who I would choose in his place. Chris Hemsworth maybe? Any excuse to see him on screen is a good excuse in my opinion!

And I could probably see Christian Bale playing Christian. I never get tired of looking at him.

I can’t quite figure out who could play Killian. Or Ridley for that matter. Dreamer is up in the air, total CGI or live actor with CGI wings and flying and all that? She’d need to be someone adorable and bubbly.

So who do YOU see cast in these roles? I’d love to hear from you with your input! You can post your dream cast either as a reply here, on my Twitter @SkyyHuntington or on Facebook

Book 3 updates

I’d like to say I am sorry for not being on social media much the last few weeks! I have had a really busy summer, with my niece in town for 2 weeks, a mini-vacation down to San Antonio (my first visit there!) and helping my parents pack and move into their newly purchased home…so I haven’t had as much time for writing as I would have liked! I am back on track now, and about halfway done with book 3, with a tentative title of “The Transition”. I am trying to stick with the “The” theme for the series, and it’s been hard to come up with a title for book 3 that isn’t already over used, that still fits the theme of the book. I have to say though, this book has been the most fun for me to write in the series so far. Skyy is going through some MAJOR life changes in more ways than one, and I love seeing her character grow and expand. There is also a new (or not so new…you’ll have to be the judge of that 😉 ) antagonist who’s entering the scene, on top of their search for Bathory so it’s double the fun, horror, and excitement. And of course, romance! As if Skyy didn’t have enough on her hands, she and Aiden are still planning their wedding.

I did have a goal of getting this book out in the fall of this year, preferably by the end of October, but I found out we will have family in town for the entire month of September so I am not sure how things will go. BUT I can promise you that the book will be out by the end of 2013 for sure. I am so excited for this installment in the series and cannot wait to get the feedback from all my readers! Also, the poll is still up here on the blog for who you’d like to see on the cover of book 3 so be sure to chime in if you haven’t already. I just can’t choose so it’s in the hands of the fans and right now, Skyy and Aiden together on the cover is ahead…but there is plenty of time left to vote!

Also, as I mentioned in the last post I did start a Facebook fanpage. It’s been slow going so please spread the word and help me get some more likes. And, a shameless plug here…if you enjoyed my books, please consider leaving a review on Amazon!

Stay tuned here on my blog, Twitter, and Facebook (click the little squares on the top right of my blog!) for more information. I should have the back cover blurb reveal ready in a couple of weeks.

Join me on my official Facebook fan page

NewHeader1Well, I finally did it. I caved in and re-joined Facebook. I deleted my personal account last year and never looked back, personally I hate Facebook but I can definitely see the benefit of it for a fan-based business. I don’t want my fans to miss any information I put out, and if adding yet one more social media outlet is the answer then I’ll be there with bells on.

So please spread the word and like The Official Skyy Huntington Series Facebook page

And, updates on book 3…I’ve just finished writing a scene that I have been dying to get down on paper for the book. It’s one of the pivotal scenes in the book and it was so fun to write. I can’t wait to get this installment finished and out for everyone to read. I’ll also be adding a poll here on my blog (once I figure out how to do it!) to vote for who you’d like to see on the cover of book 3, so stay tuned! I can’t make my mind up on who I want on the cover, so I’ll let the fans decide! I have so many neat ideas, and my cover artist is amazing so I can’t wait to see what she’ll come up with this time!

Hope that everyone is enjoying their summer, and that you’re staying cool! Have a SAFE and Happy 4th of July!

The Lie in top 100 paid Fantasy Romance

The Lie e-book CoverHi everyone! I am so thrilled to announce that my first published novel, The Lie has made it to the top 100 paid books on Amazon in the Fantasy-Romance genre! I am currently sitting at number 46, and I have to give a HUGE thank you to everyone who has purchased my book. The feedback and support I have received in such a short amount of time has been amazing. It might not seem like a big deal to some people, but as a newly published author this is just so exciting for me. The reception of this series has blown me away, I had not set any expectations when I published….it was just a story I wanted to tell, and I am thrilled that readers are enjoying the series.

Speaking of the series, I have started writing book 3 and hope to have it out for sale by fall 2013. You can keep up to date here on my blog, or follow me on Twitter as I check both on a daily basis.

I’d also like to remind you, if you purchased The Lie before April 26th 2013 there is a newly updated version of it. Slight punctuation and formatting errors were fixed, and you can find it by going to your Amazon account – Manage Your Kindle find The Lie and from the Actions drop down menu there should be the option to download the new version.

Once again, thank you to everyone who has purchased my books, and to my friends and family for all their love and support!

You can purchase both books on Amazon: The Lie  & The Countess

The Countess now available – The Lie updates

Get The Countess on Amazon

The Countess EBookV2 (1)

Also, an update on both the paperback and e-book versions of The Lie. There were formatting issues and slight punctuation issues, if you purchased The Lie before April 22nd there is a new version for your e-reader. I have asked Amazon to review the files and offer them to customers who previously bought a copy, but this can take up to 4 weeks, so if you want the new updated version right away you’ll have to email Amazon and ask them to push it to your device. Otherwise look in Manage Your Kindle from Amazon’s home page, then find The Lie in the list and when the update is available you’ll see it in the drop down menu.

As for the paperback version of The Lie, I’d be happy to ship you a new book free of charge if you bought it before April 22nd and email me a copy of your receipt.  There are slight changes to the cover of the book, and the formatting issues inside have been corrected. I do apologize for the errors, and I know that you have a lot of choices out there when it comes to buying a book and want to make sure you have the best reading experience possible when you purchase one of my books.

If you bought a copy of The Lie after April 22nd, you have the new and updated version of it, and none of the above applies to you 🙂

Thank you again to everyone who has purchased a copy of either of these books, and a huge thank you to my husband who really helped make The Countess a lot easier to format this time around 🙂

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
