The Countess back cover blurb teaser

Hey everyone, with 7 days until the release of The Countess – Book Two in the Skyy Huntington series, I thought I’d give you a glimpse of what to expect! Here is the back cover blurb. I’ll be releasing the cover art within the next day or so, and I think you’ll be blown away when you see Elizabeth Bathory come to life on this cover! Also, The Lie is still free today, Saturday April 20th until midnight pacific time so if you’ve been interested in reading it now is the time. Pick it up on Amazon – The Lie

And here is The Countess teaser:

Life got real complicated, real quick for Skyy Huntington. A few months ago she was wandering around in a cemetery snapping photos looking for ghosts. Now she finds herself submerged headfirst into a world filled with vampires and magic.

Picking up right where The Lie leaves off, Skyy boards a private jet with her love interest Aiden Carrick and her friends headed for Scotland, trying to buy them some breathing room from Countess Elizabeth Bathory’s henchmen.

Soon after their arrival, Skyy finds out they weren’t as safe as they thought when she gets abducted and taken into the dark world of the Countess. She finds herself being tortured at the hands of the woman who has perfected the art over many centuries, getting an up close and personal account of just how crazy the woman really is.

Meanwhile, her vampire friends form an uneasy alliance with Skyy’s grandfather, Killian Huntington and his order of Divine Assassins, ancestors of the servants who took a book of dark and powerful magic forged with the souls of Bathory’s victims from her castle in the 1600s.

While captive in Bathory’s castle, Skyy finds out that there is still some light within the darkness, forming a new friendship that will help change the course of her future.

New friends, and new enemies will battle for survival as Bathory gets closer and closer to finding her book.

The Lie, free April 20th – and also information on book two!

Hello everyone! I have some really important and exciting news. First off, in preparation for the launch of book two in The Skyy Huntington Series – The Countess, I am going to have a free promotion running this Saturday, April 20th for book one in the series – The Lie. So if you’ve been interested in picking it up and catching up before the release now is the time!  Also there has just been a new, updated edition of The Lie pushed to Amazon and this should be available for download within 24 hours if it doesn’t automatically update on your e-readers. There were some slight punctuation errors that were edited as well as some very minor changes in context. I do realize that there were some punctuation mistakes in the first edition and I hope you can all forgive me! Everything should be in order now as we move on to the exciting release of the second book.

I know I promised that the website would be updated last weekend, but I have not received my promotional images just yet and hope to have them by the end of the week. So until then I can give you the exciting news that book two, The Countess, is officially finished and I am more pleased than ever with the outcome. There is a ton of action, plenty of new characters, as well as all of the same familiar faces you’ve grown to love from The Lie. Elizabeth Bathory, the countess herself, will be making her debut in this book….and she is quite terrifying. I will warn readers now, this book is quite different from The Lie! There are some very graphic scenes, so prepare yourselves for an epic adventure. The book moves at a fast pace that I hope you will enjoy!

The tentative release date will be April 27th but there is a chance it could be released slightly sooner than that. But no worries, you’ll have a brand new copy of The Countess on your e-reader by the end of April either way. Once again, I thank all of my readers and encourage you to give me your thoughts and feedback after you’ve read the new book! Keep checking back in the days to come, as I’ll be updated my blog and Twitter at the very least until the website has the updated changes on it with the countdown to The Countess!

Sincerely,

Holly

What we take for granted

I just had my first “real” surgery of my life last week. By real I mean the kind where they put you to sleep and all that. Before this the only other surgery-ish type thing I had done was my wisdom teeth being removed last year. And I will tell you, it’s all really put things into perspective. I had an infection in my jaw bone last year, and had 2 root canals done in 1 month. I couldn’t eat or talk for days on end, and the pain in my jaw/face was insane. Now, with this surgery I had last week, my entire stomach and abdomen is bruised and swollen and I have incisions that hurt like hell, so I can’t sleep any other way but on my back and can’t bend over or hardly move at all. And, we all don’t realize how lucky we are until you get a taste of something like this. Because someone out there always has it worse than you, no matter what your situation is. And I am SO thankful for my family and friends, and thankful to have my health and mobility.

I’ve felt like a zombie for the last four days. My husband had to fly to Seattle for a business trip and is gone until Thursday and it sucks not having him around, but my mom is here helping me recover until he gets back. I had planned to get the rest of book 2 finished up while I was recovering but all I have wanted to do was sleep, so I have gotten nothing done. Today is the first day I have felt like doing anything at all, so I hope to get at least 1 chapter written out. I plan to have 3 more chapters, so I should be able to get it all done and into editing soon to meet my goal of releasing it this month.

If you haven’t read book 1 in The Skyy Huntington Series, The Lie you should pick it up. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BODVDP8?tag=hollhuds-20&creative=384345&linkCode=kin and don’t forget, if you read a book and you like it be sure to leave a good review! I”ll be updating my website with new information regarding book 2 The Countess this coming weekend, so keep an eye out.

As always, thank you for your interest in my series, I hope that you’ve enjoyed The Lie if you’ve read it.

So blah this weekend – And I hate paperbacks

While I did manage to get about 3 chapters on book 2 done over the weekend, I feel so blah. Didn’t do anything at all but sit on my computer writing, or vegging out. I found a new game for my phone called Majesty: Fantasy Kingdoms that sucked all my time away today…it’s super fun and addicting. I also looked around for some photos to use for the cover of book 2, and was pleased with some of the ones I found. My cover artist should be able to work her magic as usual with whichever one I pick.

While I still am waiting on the joints to finish putting my raised garden bed together (Home Depot had to ship them grrr) my seedlings I planted indoors are doing amazing! And I will be picking my first strawberry of the season tomorrow, have one tiny berry that’s red and ready to go.

On another note – it’s come to my attention lately that I really am not wanting to read physical books anymore. I always try to buy the hard cover or paperback version of a book if it’s an author I really like, because I like to support them, and so I can add it to my collection of their books on my shelf. I really thought I’d hate the Kindle when I got the first one back in 2010. But I found that I fell in love with digital readers, and own 3 Kindles now. The last few books I bought in physical form just agitated me, they are awkward and uncomfortable to hold after you’re used to your e-reader. I bought the latest book one of my favorite authors put out the other day (which I am ashamed to say I fell way behind on her series until recently) and I am regretting buying it in paperback and struggling to finish reading it because of that! I hate to say it, but I think it’ll be the last physical book I buy 🙁

Anyway, back to doing nothing for the rest of the evening. Waiting on my phone to charge back up so I can play more Majesty, and watch Shameless. Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend as well!

Whirlwind weekend!

My back is thoroughly sore from digging around in my backyard yesterday planting raspberry and blackberry bushes and trying to set up my raised garden bed. The kit shipped with plastic parts: the joints and stakes for the wood were all plastic and 5 of them were busted on arrival! So frustrating….so now I have to hope the local Home Depot has something I can use as a replacement to get the stupid thing put together.

This weekend was also my first free weekend promotion for my new book The Lie. I am blown away by the response I got! I ended up with 910 downloads, and made it to #16 in the top 100 best sellers in the free paranormal genre on Amazon. I’ve already got positive feedback and reviews on the book as well, which makes me happy beyond words. It’s more than I ever imagined would happen, especially this soon after publishing. A HUGE thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who downloaded my book this weekend, I hope that you enjoy it.

Please be sure to join me on Twitter for updates on book two in the series, The Countess. I am hoping to have it out some time next month! https://twitter.com/SkyyHuntington

I’m attaching a screenshot of my ranking on Amazon, because quite frankly I can’t even believe it! This was one of the most exciting weekends I have had in a long time.

Again: THANK YOU to everyone who downloaded my book this weekend!

Thanks Dad

My sweet Dad surprised me yesterday by snapping up the very first paperback copy of my book as soon as it went live. I was baffled at who bought a paperback version of my book, since I hadn’t told anyone it was live yet except my Mom and Dad, and she didn’t even know he did it. I was impressed how fast the book was shipped out to him, he ordered it on Sunday and it was printed and delivered by Wed.

It was surreal to hold the book in my hands. Of course, I bought a copy of it for my own Kindle but it’s not the same thing. My Dad put a very sweet note inside for me, and I will cherish this copy of my book forever, since it’s my first published novel.

I know I have said it a lot, but again, I wouldn’t have had the courage to go through with this if it weren’t for my family. So, thank you from the bottom of my heart Dad, your kind words and encouragement mean more to me than you know.

Also, as a side note The Lie will be free on the Amazon Kindle store this weekend starting Saturday, so be sure to pick up a copy and spread the word!

I’m live (again)

Well Goodreads finally converted my account from a user to an author. Took them long enough! I also finished my Amazon Author profile and they have finally linked my paperback and Kindle versions on the same page. It’s really exciting to see it all coming together. And even more exciting to see the book making sales! Slowly but surely I’m making progress. Now to get back to work on book 2 in the series.

And again, a HUGE thanks to my family and friends, especially my darling husband who has worked hard putting my website together. All the support is what keeps me moving forward 🙂

The Lie Ebook

It’s nearly time!

This weekend I think I am finally ready to put my first published novel up for sale. I can honestly say this whole experience has been really amazing. I have learned so much about writing, and self publishing. I am thankful that authors have the opportunity to get their work seen and heard with all the new ways to publish. This has been a project that has evolved over the last 2 or 3 years and it has been frustrating at times, but I am very excited to finally see it coming to life.

I’m sure there are probably going to be mistakes I didn’t catch, and things I will have to go back and change, but I worked really hard, along with 3 other people, editing and proofreading the novel as best as I could. I have second guessed myself more times than I can count. If it wasn’t for the help of my family and friends this never would have come to life. It’s a scary thing to put your work out there, for everyone to see and criticize. But you’ll never know what the outcome will be unless you try.

I wrote this book because I had a story in my mind rolling around for years, and wanted to finally get it down on paper. I didn’t write this for any other reason than it was a story I enjoyed. And I hope that those of you who also read it enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

So to all my friends and family who have supported me through all of this: thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

And to any future readers or fans: thank you for buying my book, I truly hoped that you enjoyed stepping into Skyy’s world.

Sincerely,

Holly
